How Dr. Hew Len healed a ward of mentally ill criminals with Ho'oponopono
85Ho’oponopono, the Hawaiian system that heals oneself ... and the world, too
More than thirty years ago, in Hawaii, at the Hawaii State Hospital, there was a special ward, a clinic for the mentally ill criminals. People who had committed extremely serious crimes were assignated there either because they had a very deep mental disorder or because they needed to be checked to see if they were sane enough to stand trial. They had committed murder, rape, kidnapping or other such crimes. According to a nurse that worked there in those years, the place was so bleak that not even the paint could stick to the walls, everything was decaying, terrifying, repulsive. No day would pass without a patient-inmate attacking another inmate or a member of the staff.
The people working there were so frightened that they would walk close to the walls if they saw an inmate coming their way in a corridor, even though they were all shackled, all the time –but more than once this wouldn’t stop an agression. The inmates would never be brought outside to get fresh air because of their relentlessly threatening attitude. The scarcity of staff was a chronic occurrence. Nurses, wardens, employees would prefer to be on sick-leave most of the time in order not to confront such a depressive and dangerous environment.
Dr. Hew Len, the Teacher of Ho'oponopono
Enters Dr. Hew Len
One day, a newly appointed clinical psychologist, a Dr. Stanley Hew Len, arrived at the ward. The nurses rolled their eyes, bracing themselves for one more guy that was going to bug them with new theories and proposals to fix the horrid situation, who would walk away as soon as things became unpleasant, around a month later, usually. However, this new doctor wouldn’t do anything like that. Actually he didn’t seem to be doing anything in particular, except just coming in and being always cheerful and smiling, in a very natural, relaxed way. He wasn’t even particularly early in arriving every morning. From time to time he would ask for the files of the inmates.
He never tried to see them personally, though. Apparently he just sat in an office, looked at their files, and to members of the staff who showed an interest he would tell them about a weird thing called Ho’oponopono. Little by little things started to change in the hospital. One day somebody would try again to paint those walls and they actually stayed painted, making the environement more palatable. The gardens started being taken care of, some tennis courts were repaired and some prisonners that up until then would never be allowed to go outside started playing tennis with the staff. Other prisonners would be allowed not to be shackled any more, or would receive less heavy pharmacological drugs. More and more obtained permission to go outside unshackled, without causing trouble to the hospital’s employees.
In the end, the athmosphere changed so much that the staff was not on sick leave any more. Actually, more people than needed wished now to work there. Prisonners started gradually to be released. Dr. Hew Len worked there close to four years. In the end, there remained only a couple of inmates that were relocated somewhere else and the clinic for the mentally insane criminals had to close.
Another self-help book?
I have to confess that I don’t remember reading in my whole life one single self-help book. Titles like how to get wealthy in two simple steps or the sure road to love and riches or marketing with the stars or secure your health with this ancient secret of the mayas never passed from my eyes to my consciousness, I simply never payed attention to them.
So when my neighbor Norma, an 81 year young lady filled with strength, enthousiasm and New York witt, told me: “rosario, you have to read this new book by Joe Vitale”, I stared at her with probably a blank expression, and I asked “who is Joe Vitale?” The extent of my ignorance was too wide for her to try to diminish it, so she replied, “never mind, you have to read this book”. “It’s about a doctor who emptied a ward for mentally insane criminals in a couple of years, just saying a few words to himself.”
I asked, “could you repeat what you just said?” And she did. The book displayed all the signs of the self-help book: ZERO LIMITS, The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace, and More, but it was too late, I had heard about the doctor and I had developed an instant frenzy, a desperate need to learn what he had done with the crazy criminals, so I grabbed the book and rushed home and started reading, and I didn’t stop until the last word.
What did Dr. Hew Len do to the patients, how did he treat them that the results were so spectacular? He didn’t do anything. Not a thing to them nor with them, except looking at their files. He only tried to heal himself, applying an old, traditional community problem-solving system from Hawaii, called Ho’oponopono, adapted to individuals by his Teacher, the late Hawaiian sage Morrnah Nalamaku Simeona. And what was he doing to himself? In his own words: “I was simply healing the part of me that created them”.
Actually, he used to sit in his office and look at the patients' files. While perusing them, he would feel something, a pain, an empathy. Then he started the healing on himself, taking full responsibility for what was going on with a given patient. That's how those people got better, because their doctor had the strange view that it was himself who needed the healing, not them.
Ho’oponopono
Simply put, Ho’oponopono is based on the knowledge that anything that happens to you or that you perceive, the entire world where you live is your own creation and thus, it is entirely your responsibility. A hundred percent, no exceptions.
Your boss is a tyrant? It’s your responsibility. Your children are not good students? It’s your responsibility. There are wars and you feel bad because you are a good person, a pacifist? The war is your responsibility. You see that children around the world are hungry and malnourished if not starving? Their wont is your responsibility. No exceptions. Literally, the world is your world, it is your creation. As Dr. Hew Len points out: didn’t you notice that whenever you experience a problem you are there?
It’s your responsibility doesn’t mean it’s your fault, it means that you are responsible for healing yourself in order to heal whatever or whoever it is that appears to you as a problem.
It might sound crazy, or just plain metaphorical, that the world is your creation. But if you look carefully, you will realize that whatever you call the world and perceive as the world is your world, it is the projection of your own mind. If you go to a party you can see how in the same place, with the same light, the same people, the same food, drink, music and athmosphere, some will enjoy themselves while others will be bored, some will be overenthousiastic and some depressed, some will be talkative and others will be silent. The “out there” for every one of them seems the same, but if one were to connect their brains to machines immediately it would show how different areas of the brain would come alive, how different perceptions there are from one person to the next. So even if they apparently share it, the “out there” is not the same for them, let alone their inner world, their emotions.
How do you heal yourself with Ho’oponopono? Three steps: by recognizing that whatever comes to you is your creation, the outcome of bad memories buried in you mind; by regretting whatever errors of body, speech and mind caused those bad memories, and by requesting Divine Intelligence within yourself to release those memories, to set you free. Then, of course, you say thank You.
There are seminars where they teach you many tricks to help this process, but according to Joe Vitale, Dr. Hew Len himself uses the simplest of the formulas from Ho’oponopono. Whenever a matter arises –and they arise incessantly– adressing the Divine within you, you only have to say: I love You, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank You.
That we can obtain big things from Ho’oponopono has already been shown: the healing of an entire ward of insane criminals seems far more difficult a task than any of our personal troubles. There are, no doubt, piles of testimonies from practitioners. Dr. Hew Len says, however: this is not fast food. The cleaning of memories requires a lot of concentration and persistence and is an unending job. But the result is what he calls Zero Limits, a state where one is free from the past, and suffused with Divine Intelligence and love.

that book changed my life and I just found out that joe vitale has release a new seminar called Zero Limits Maui. Feel free to check out my hub.
Of course, I'm interested. If you can, do write some more about it.
Que interesante Rosario!
Te mando un besote
hello rosario,
thank you for this story; I know this story now for about two weeks, read all about it on the internet and this hooponoponothing is like coming home.
But (sometime) rational silly me says: how can I explain to my friends that these people in this ward actually were healed? Is it documentated and where can I find this?
Can you help me with this?
Thank you Rosario for your wise words and your answer to my question. In the few weeks I know Ho'oponopono now and take 100% responsibility for what comes into my life, I notice Divinity is helping me all the way through(at least I think is helping, what the bleep do I know?).
I ordered this book, Zero Limits, and I think it's on a ship somewhere to the Netherlands, because I didn't receive it yet. So, trying to find more and more about Ho'oponopono on the internet, I found this free manual by Mornnah Simeona and Rev. James Vinson Wingo. I'm not sure that I want to bother you with this, but it confused me. The manual states, that recent research has showed that the technique, as described in Zero Limits, when Dr. Len constantly uses the four phrases, is not effective and even would influence the unconsious in a negative way. The manual offers an advanced technique, to learn from dvd's to buy.
I hardly believe this can be true and I think it's a selling technique. But maybe I'm wrong. Again: what the bleep do I know?
Listen, I love you for the contact we have, and I'm sorry that apparantly I'm unaware of knowing what feels right. Please forgive me that I bring this up in your life now and in these hubs. And I thank you for being here now.
I can't wait till the ship has reached Holland.
Thank you Rosario for your clear explanation. I know I already decided, because like you I was completely put upside down on my own thinking and vieuws by what this man did and I immediatly felt this was the right thing for me. Like I said: I felt like coming home, even all the furniture was upside down and nothing was in it's usual place.
I'm looking forward to this book. Thanks again!
For everyone that's interested but that can't afford the book, I believe Joe Vitale makes it available for free on his website, if not you can download the audiobook from torrents.
He really doesn't mind if you procure it that way. Am i wrong Rosario?
I don't know, thank you for the tip, I'll try to check it when I have time.
hi rosariomontenegro ,
thanks for sharing this wonderful story, i heard about this from a friend. I wonder whether the story of healing the mental ward is true. I wonder u know many patients were involved in above healing, and do u personally have any experience to share pertaining to hooponopono.
thank you so much.
darcy
Thank you Rosario,
for this answer to Darcy. You have a way of explaining things that calms my mind. Maybe you want to share something with me that was in your last answer, that I can't comprehend. I know it's not something for the intellect to understand, but maybe you'll find the words.
You wrote: Then start talking to the Divine that is not out there but inside yourself.
How do you do this? Is this different from taking to yourself? When I read about Ho'oponopono on the net, there's talking to the inner child, talking to the inner Divinaty. How do you talk to each of them? Or is this al the same? Part of me is my inner chuld, part of me Divinity, part of me myself. I am all of that. Can I just talk to myself? What's the difference for you?
Or is this the intellect that wants answers and there are none?
Thank you, Alexa
Hello Rosario,
yes I've read the book, even three times now. The first time I was like hungry to swallow all these new visions, the second time I felt like Dr. Len's words went straight to my heart but the way Dr. Vitale was telling this didn't feel good to me, and the third time I saw the big selling-promotion of Dr. Vitale himself, one big advertisement to sell himself. I once visited his website - one of his many - and since then I keep receiving emails of free ways to become a millionaire, have a bigger house or a huge car. The man wrote this after writing his book about Dr. Len and Ho'oponopono. I don't get it....
Your story about Dr. Len is beautiful, Rosario, so is this Vitale-story about the ward, but the rest of the book ....???
So I had to go back to the internet, to find more about this Dr.Len. And believe me, there are a few sites that give perfect information about Dr. Len and about Self I-Dentity through Ho'oponopono. There's even a new forum started. And these sites don't aim to get rich and wealthy and they suit me well, because somehow I don't think if there's a Divinity, that this Divinity's worry is how to give us a huge car, how this enormous house is going to be delivered to us or, if you have smaller wishes, how Divinity is giving us a free parking place.
So, yes I've read the book and I'm sorry to say I'm a little bit dissapointed by it. I love Dr. Len's words somewhere else on the internet and in videos on YouTube, but I honestly doubt if Mr. Vitale put down Dr.Len's words correctly on paper.
I heard Dr.Len state, in one of those 9 videos, that he hadn't read the book himself yet, and I know Mr.Vitale writes somewhere, that the next seminar he's organising with Dr.Len is unfortunatly the last one.
I can imagine why ...
Somewhere in this blog Rosario, you state you gonna write more about Ho'oponopono and I hope you will and I'm looking forward to your wise words.
I'll be visiting this place again!
Alexa
Thank you very very much Rosario,
you showed me perfectly I was only describing the Joe Vitale in my mind. I wonder why I did this: probably because I saw the glass half empty again at that time. I shouldn't concentrate on him, you're right. I guess I needed you to explain to me again and again this what Dr. Len is showing, is a type of silent mental revolution, and has nothing to do, indeed, with obtaining things. I think I know what your answer will be: this, alexa is also in your own mind.
Thank you for welcoming me on this place. I'll be looking forward to your clear explaining of Ho'oponopono in the future.
Alexa
Thank you Rosario.
(What a beautiful way to put: 'you are always welcome anywhere in the web of our minds'. This goes straight to my heart!)
After hearing a speaker (just speak briefly) about this technique/state of mind and the prison that a Dr. Len "set free", I began researching Ho'oponopono.
I have for years been allowing my "inner child" to rule my thoughts. I have allowed myself to be a victim and to think negatively, when I thought I was creating from inspiration. True inspiration is beautiful and hard to achieve.
I want to thank both of you....Alexa and Rosario. You both are the struggles within myself. It was only when I read through the conversations that you two had, I realized where I needed to begin. Thank you and bless you both!
I loved the book! And made positive changes...Thanks for putting this hub together Rosario.
Thank you Lisi!
Thankyou for writing this article...I have heard of this doctor and it was good to read about him again...
in the past 8 days i have been told about this twice so i had to listen...i think this is a wonderful tool.
i would like to share some thoughts as this is very close to my heart. in my life i strive to help people heal and be whole. i have been a psychic channel for many years and spirit guides often teach me about letting go of the ego and living in the space of love or the true self as a tool to self healing and world healing. When we heal ourselves our world is healed.
You may have often heard people say if you don't like something about someone it is something within yourself you don't like..... Ho’oponopono to me sound like the same thing. The data that the doc talks about is really about the ego and the ego states. we either live in fear or in love. this prayer, mantra call it what you will is a way to release the fear and replace it with love which brings us back to the true source (self).
we are one with god (i'm not talking about a religious god but just infinite intelligence, the source, love, the universe etc) and so when we our out of sync with love then we are out of sync with god. (and ourselves and each other as we are one)
if i may share the comments about cars and money to me are just about limited beliefs. personally i don't have a need for material possessions but i understand that god's supply is limitless and that we manifest in the state of the divine being the state of the true self - LOVE. i welcome gods gifts and if i can drive a nice car over a bomb so be it
i believe this is whet Ho’oponopono is all about - connecting with love
i love the divinity in all of you, forgive me if i am over opinionated, i'm sorry if i have offended anyone and thank you for allowing me to share :)
I love this practice, it is saving my life and giving me peace, I can feel my body changing, some say that is where the subconscious is located( I would like to know more of this)..I have worked on spiritual healing for years, and I am amazed at how effective this is, just take 100% responsibility for all of it, its hard but freeing..I love you, thank-you, I am sorry, please forgive me, if I offend anyone..Kate
This is great stuff. My first time to encounter Ho’oponopono.
Hi Rosario,
Thank you for your wonderful postings here. This is incredible stuff. I have had some experience in it because of my 'journeys'.
When I recently took 100% responsibility for the most traumatic things in my life I discovered that I actually knew the 'meanings' of them and why these things had happened ... and I realized that I was NOT a victim but that my THINKING ('data) had been the cause of the situations. Then it was easy to see that the person or persons who had seemingly 'caused' the trauma were NOT 'bad' people but people being true to who they were ... and, of course, these people, by their actions that I 'interpreted' as 'trauma-causing', these people actually helped release me from the constructs of old, dead data. Wow! How can one bear anger or resentment towards those who inspire healing? Of course it took over a decade for me to come to this realization ... but better late than never, right? And now, being free of this, I am realizing that I am ALSO free to be happy and not carry some burden of unhappiness and trauma around with me - even though I LIKE being dramatic in telling the old data stories ... what good does it serve me ... so I am in the process of erasing old data and cleaning up the 'space' where it was held, with positive feelings, and hopefully without data that might entrap my future thinking.
This is all fun, too! I feel like I almost need to be a bit of a 'detective' to understand the feelings that I have as a result of dead data thoughtforms ... and to allow healing. It really isn't difficult ... it just requires diligence to 'look' at what bothers me or ails me about the world around me as well as the world INSIDE 'me'.
I have a friend who used to do healing of the Internet in a Ho'oponopono way! His potential clients would call him to fix a problem with the flow of data to and through their website and my friend would sit, connect with Love ... and contemplate the client's situation as if he were totally integrated with the Net ... and he would see the blockages and bottlenecks to data movement on the client's site and he would visualize how the data could and should flow ... and ... without EVER using code or his computer or ANYTHING - except his thoughtforms, the blockages and bottlenecks would apparently vanish. I don't know how it happened but it happened regularly that once my friend saw how to correct the problem in his integrated and, I suppose, loving way, he would call up his clients to set up a schedule for fixing the problem and to work out payment details for his work to clear the problems with 'data' flow ... and he would invariably be told, "No, thanks. We're fine. Everything is working now." He was brilliant but he couldn't make any money since he fixed things in a way similar to the practitioners of Ho'oponopono - just by 'looking into' the situation ... like Dr. Len - who 'just' was looking into the files. So it seems. Dr. Len would not do anything outwardly that people could put their fingers on ... yet the people were fixed - just as my friend would not do anything outwardly to fix the Internet issues, yet the Internet issues were fixed. This is incredible stuff, really.
And while this is wonderful for healing the hurts of the past that come or have come to us, apparently, from the outside ... from others, for example ... the applications for one's own INNER life are massive. I am thinking of self-healing acceleration. Have we ever tried to love those parts of our body that need healing or do we send old data down the pathways ... being upset that that part of the body, wherever it is, has let us down. "Bad body part!" Or ... have we learned to send love, an apology, TWO-way forgiveness, and HUGE appreciation? :)
This is self-changing spiritual technology which means it is WORLD-changing, too. And to think ... we don't need any further education to do this. It's simple and wise and ... it was GREAT to have this reminder today from your page.
You - and what you have written about here - are a Gift to all of us.
Thank you, Rosario! You are VERY much appreciated!
:)
Fascinating stuff! I've read Zero Limits a couple of times and am currently working my way through the Zero Limits III seminar on DVD. Life changing!
I would recommend anything by Dr. Joe Vitale. He knows his stuff and presents it in a manner easy to understand.
I am just beginning with the cleaning and hope to get great results very soon. I will let you know.
fabulous. I work in a hospital/prison from offenders with psychiatric/mood problems so this was a useful insight.Thank you very much.
If I want to pray for a particular person, Do I go through, I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you, addressing the Divine within me and then hope thatt the benefits from the aspirations flow to the person for whom I am praying?
Dear Taylor, the important thing is the intention, not so much the wording. The main point is that you realize that whatever negativity you see in a particular person it's your responsibility, it´s your perception, it's your life. Dr. Hew Len says it means that you share a memory (mostly an unconcious memory) with that person and that when you take responsibility it gets liberated, utterly, kind of it dissolves in that zero space he talks about.
Because I personally am a little bit obsessive I do the round both adressing divinity in me and in the other party. I recite the four lines adressing divinity in myself with a profound sense of taking responsibility, and I say to the other person, in my mind, the most heartfelt I love you that I can muster. Sometimes I´ve been witness of the reversal in my own mind, for instance when a person that I am perceiving as a wrongdoer and of course I´m not having very nice feelings about it, all of a sudden becomes an actual object of love in my heart. Those things happen and they are encouraging. But it´s not necessary that they happen so openly, it´s enough that we are sincerely taking full responsibility.
I love you C.Taylor. Good luck with your prayers.
Thank you for your love in taking my question seriously and responding swiftly.
I have no problem taking responsibility for the negativity and I think it is a beautiful concept but I am still trying to understand it. How do I share a memory with a person I don't know and on the surface have nothing in common with? For example, if I pray for Saddam Hussein, how do I take responsibility for his actions?
I just finished the book Zero Limits just now. I found it to be very profound and really ring true. I find that the techniques in the book and the philosophy is great for keeping me grounded throughout my day and experiencing the actual moment at hand, not allowing my mind to wander and create worry. It's a very similiar concept to The Power of Now and many other techniques that are trying to get you back to a point of NOW, THIS MOMENT. The difference is that it really, really is simple at heart. It just requires a truly open mind and a willingness to open your heart as well. The Divinity in you has to recognize that the divinity in everything else is all really just the same thing at the core of it. When you realize that everything is happening internally and take responsibility for it, not guilt, but responsibility, which is very different, you really do set yourself free.
Good stuff.
hi Rosariomontenegro, I read the ZL book and have been reading up on Hew Len on ho'oponopono I find the whole subject fascinating and amazing. I leant the book to my good friend who has really taken to the cleaning and is having outstanding results! I on the other hand am a bit stuck, I am getting used to the cleaning but dont see any outwards manifestations of any changes yet! Yes I am impatient arent I? I have read the Mabel Katz book and she states we do not know what is going on behing the scenes so to speak, but I was wondering have you had anything like this happen to you? Some negativity came up when I first started which was difficult but now everything seems the same! Thank you ;-)
Thank you so much for answering. I am trying to improve my relationships and heal pain in me and close to me. I'm not seeing much change but I recko_n that's because I am over analysing everything. Instead of being open with love like you say send it with love to all around me. Thank you: -)
Hello Rosario. I am presently involved in an anti mining campaign. Mining companies devastate our environment our agricultural lands cause pain and sickness in the community. I get really angry when I see such wanton coldhearted destruction.... I wonder how I use your technology to address this situation
Hi Rosario,
Am wondering right at this moment, what do I do about a violent neighbour, I keep sending love but am having a hard time working out, what it is in my life that is causing this. Everytime he yells or smashes things, kicks his dogs, I send love. And am now thinking of this, 'Im sorry, please forgive me. I love you, and I thank you' is this what I should do and more often? As I write this, he has gone quiet, do you think its working? I hope so!
Im sorry, please forgive me. I love you, and I thank you!
regards
cosimme
Thank You Rosario,
I have thought of this in the past, that I was helping to protect him with my love. Thank You, I will be redoubling my efforts! and ofcourse healing myself as we go :)
I love you too, Im sorry, please forgive me, I thank you.
regards
cosimme
Thank you Cosimme, love you too.
Hello Rosario,
I've been learning about ho'oponopono for a couple of years now and I ran accross some conflicting stories as well as Alexa at the begining of this blog. But something deep inside of me said this one was the right one.
I have been looking for a blog like this though so I can ask some questions.
Sometimes with all the problems in my family I feel overwhelmed. I just don't know what to work on first.
I have Multiple Sclerosis. My husband also has some serious medical issues. My oldest daughter is Bipolar. My youngest daughter has Cronic Fatigue Syndrome.
And several of my grandchildren have medical issues as well. It seems like everyday is more stressfull than the day before. When one family member is on my mind and I start doing the ho'oponopono, emediately another becomes more urgent. I feel overwhelmed most days. So, my question is how do I priorities so I can see some results? I do the ho'oponopono when ever I think about it, but I'm so worried about everyone. I try not too, but with all the illness in my family it's also creating poverty. Can you help me figure this out? Thank you
Thank You Rosario,
Yesterday as I was doing my Ho'oponopono and reading and doing more research it became clearer to me what I needed to do. I then read your response this afternoon and it was exactly what I was getting in my heart! I'm learning more everyday and it feels great.
Thank you so much for starting this blog. It really is a good thing. I think as time goes on in this learning process I may have more question and I'm so greatfull that you will be here.
I love you and thank you, Rhonda
I don't know what to call this , bad philosophy , bad religion, bad spirituality, narcissistic to the extreme, on and on ... this is simply insane
According to this article, these criminals were responsible for their acts as we all are responsible for our actions.
So healing their issues should have come from within them as they should have initiated the process. That would have made them responsible for their healing.
However, how do you explain someone else did that on their behalf without even their consent or knowing?
This may be explained, I didn’t read the book, sorry.
Tks - Denis
Interesting. The comments too. I have recently taken a course that seemed to me Hawaiian in nature called the 7 Gateways offered by Aleya Dao. When I read the article above I said to myself, Dr. Hew Len's taking responsibility for all those inmates is the opposite - a duality - to 7 Gateways, where one releases responsibilities not one's own & focuses on personal responsibility in oneself. However, somehow, because a belief system is implied here, at least Dr. Len's personal responsibility included these others being in his life. He empathized. Yet he saw the suffering as his own & understood somehow that the inmates were part of him. This reminds me of Christ, a profound beautiful way of perceiving others as oneself and thus being able to heal the whole. I can't say I get it - understand what Dr. Len did - because it's not how I seem to view things. I see that I don't feel as powerful as them. I'm sorry... Please forgive me. However, I do see that though I use Ho'oponopono at times, it called to me today in a particular way when I am suffering not only emotionally but physically. I love you. Thank You. Many blessings.
Hi, where can i find this dr len. i wanted to know if he can cure mental illness such as sychosis schitsophrenia and where can i find this dr, does he have any contact details where i can contact him please.
please help me find this man.
Dear Zar, I'll do my best to find this information, just give me some hours. With love.
Hi, thanks for the respone. How are you going with getting his contact details. Please i would really appreicate if you could find either an email or a website where you can register and get his details from there or something please. it would be much appreicated.
thank you.
Thank you for your respone. where can find his instructions on how to do it ourselves. can you please post me the link to that please. Thnk you much appreciated youve been a great help.
So you do that all day if you have to and just saying those four words to yourself all day and thats it.
Thanks alot..
When i first read ZL the method hit home instantly. Probably because i grew up in a culture where it is part of our common language to call the world - maya, an illusion/creation of the mind as a result of karma (the complex web of actions and consequences accumulating in our consciousness over lifetimes).
We (Hindu/Tantric/Buddhist) have many elaborate methods to erase data (karma as one may also call it) but the simplicity and applicability of Ho'oponopono in doing it moment to moment in our modern lives appealed to me instantly.
I would like to share the experience of my first few days of practice and seek advice on it. The first two days i felt a shift each time i cleaned. My computer miraculously recovered, my ailing mother felt better each time i cleaned. But in the next two days there has been a weird flare up - I have become depressed, irritable, nearly fired my maid, screamed at her (no one who knows me would believe me capable of that).
Are these surfacing memories for me to clean up? Or am I doing something wrong here? Please advise or share your early experiences...
Thank you so much. Passing clouds, that is what they were... I will do as you suggest. Start with baby steps :-)
Hi Rosario, thank you for all your wisdom and very loving presence that you bring to this blog. In reading about this method and model of viewing myself and the world, I have a question and would appreciate your thoughts please.
I work in conflict management e.g. coaching, mediation and training others how to coach in conflict or mediate. If according to Dr Len, the healing he brought about came from him sitting in his office and healing himself, and that perhaps my role when presented with 2 people in conflict is to heal myself then how can I view my role in training others in the 'skills and techniques' of conflict intervention? Am I really 'fooling' them because it's not the intervention that helps the people rather it's the level of my divinity as it were? I'm not sure if I'm making myself clear - it brings to mind a point Dr Len made in a video about language - it's not really about the language, rather about sending healing and love into the world - my work is all about how I can use certain ways of communicating and teach others to use 'better' ways of communicating to resolve conflict.
Thanks for your time and thoughts on this.
Mary
Thanks Rosario for your comments, I think it wasn't so much that there would be a conflict as rather more a case of what's the point i.e. in teaching people skills that focus them outwardly as it were when according to this method, a lot of the change in the world is brought by our own inner healing...
thanks for your help
best regards
mary
Dear Mary,
Is it possible to combine the two? Because that´s the ideal formula, to heal oneself and to do whatever we can for others outwardly. If you only were to do ho'oponopono for them (the people you teach) you would be opening unknown paths towards awareness and freedom that they will find themselves in the future. And as I said, you might also find a way to tell, like at the end of courses or classes ... "All of this is very good but the main thing starts here, in ourselves" ... and then give as an example the case of Dr. Hew Len. Or you might directly tell all of them or at least some of them about ho'oponopono.
In any case, I´m sorry that you are having doubts about the usefulness of your trade. It´s a healthy doubt but please don´t think that what you do is pointless, it is not. Just think how good it is that you are the one teaching with your inner practice of ho'oponopono. It surely will make a difference.
ALl the best !!!
Thanks Rosario, you make some good points, yes I think you are right, it's about taking the best of both ways and I like your suggestion of letting people know also the role of the self in all of it.
I enjoy this blog, you explain it very well...
wishing you the very best
mary

Thank you for this site. I am grateful. Anyone who is interested in or has been moved by the book Zero Limits will truly benefit from a Ho'oponopono workshop. Especially if they are fortunate enough to meet Dr. Len. He is gentle, firm, wise, joyful, and an absolute pleasure to be with.
I wish you Rosario and all who visit this site peace beyond all understanding.
Bryan
Hi rosario, the link below explains what the healing codes are and how they work and also some testimonails. http://www.thehealingcode.com/zufelt_report/
Rosario...
You are an absolute Goddess. The high consciousness and love you share here is amazing.
Thank you for being a blessing on the planet. It is an honor to be here with you.
Saw this on another site ,so I started looking around for more info...
I rememeber the first day of my life here on earth as a baby in the crib..
I sawthe ceiling..I looked right and a black clawlike hand came at me...I screamed so hard I passed out.
My mother told me years later that My 1/2 my heart stopped and I turned blue.
I now forgive all and any force and forces that would harm me or any other life at any and all time before..now and forever..I take full 100 percent resposibility and ask the inner divine creator of life and death force to change our world we live in to a life of love, harmony, compassion, healing, unselfishness, goodness, uprightness, morality, moral qualities, correct or proper procedure, excellence, well-being, prosperity, welfare, benefit, true condition or nature, duty; moral, fitting, proper, righteous, right, upright, just, virtuous, fair, beneficial, successful, in perfect order, accurate, correct, eased, relieved; should, ought, must, necessary
Good for you Brian I.

That's interesting stuff. It really gets me going. As an aspiring director who tends to delve into the paranormal, I find stories about supernatural healing very intriguing. Great hub! I'm surprised there are no comments on it.
It's very original and truly classic. I can hardly spell or pronounce the method, though. lol.
